Abstract: Background: With the dramatic rise in the rate of cesarean deliveries in the last two decades, postoperative pain management of these mothers has become a major nursing challenge. Although advances have been made in the understanding of pathophysiology of pain and development of new analgesics and delivery techniques, many women still suffer from moderate to severe post-cesarean pain. Reflexology is one of the used non-pharmacological therapies in pain practice but its effect on post-cesarean pain still under investigated in obstetric nursing practice. Therefore the aim of this study was to determine the effect of reflexology on post-cesarean pain. To fulfill the study aim a quasi experimental research design was used. Hypothesis: Mothers who receive foot reflexology (independent variable) show decreased post-cesarean pain intensity (dependent variable) than who do not receive the intervention. Setting: The study was conducted at the postnatal cesarean ward of El-Shatby Maternity University Hospital in Alexandria Governorate.........

Abstract: The percentage of people with Colorectal Cancer (CRC) is on the increase, concurrently with an increase in the campaigns towards raising awareness of preventive medicine. Though the number of victims is still high, but with the continuous worldwide efforts to disseminate awareness, this number is expected to decline. This paper aims to assess the knowledge of a sample of Lebanese citizens of CRC, after going on a tour through a giant inflatable, walk-through colon model equipped with physical depictions of healthy tissue, polyps and CRC. A sample of 629 participants completed a simple structured questionnaire directed to assess their knowledge of colon cancer and the behavioral intentions of obtaining CRC screening, both before and after going on the Inflatable Colon (IC) tour.......

Abstract: Background : Vascular calcification in a risk factor for cardiovascular mortality in hemodialysis patients. Low magnesium levels have been reported to have strong association with vascular calcification in hemodialysis patients. The aims of this study was to examine the association between serum magnesium levels and vascular calcification in hemodialysis patients. Methods: We studied 60 stable patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis for more than 3 years. Vascular calcification was evaluating using lumbal lateral x-rays. Blood was drawn to measure serum magnesium levels. Results: This study included 60 patients, 38 male and 22 female, aged 25-68 years. Vascular calcification was present.......

Abstract: External skeletal fixation is a widely used orthopedic surgical procedure for the treatment of complex musculoskeletal conditions. Patients with external fixation device have limited activity of daily livings and often have negative effects on their psychological and social wellbeing. A well-structured teaching and care plan can promote maximum self- care for the patients and will decrease frustration with mobilization and problems associated with body image. Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of self-care program on quality of life and satisfaction among patients with lower limb external skeletal fixation. Study design: A quasi experimental design was used to achieve the aim of the current study. Subject: A purposive sample of sixty adult patients was recruited for the conduction of this study. Setting: The study was conducted in the orthopedic departments and outpatient clinic at El.......
