Country | : | China |
Authors | : | Ssemanda Allawi || Zhao Changfeng |
: | 10.9790/0837-2302070119 |
Abstract: This paper analyses China‟s development engagement with Uganda focusing on China‟s Infrastructure assistance in transport and energy sectors presenting six cases of China‟s development assistance to Ugandain the above sectors.The paper further highlights common features of China‟s development assistance, its contribution towardsUganda‟s economic growth and why authorities in Uganda prefer China‟s assistance. The author concludes that, by and large, China is playing a pivotal role towards improving Uganda‟s infrastructure sector – the engine of social - economic growth. However, the author points at three key issues Ugandan policy makers must address if China‟s development assistance is to leave sustainable positive impact. Firstly, Uganda must devise other ways of funding her infrastructure than entirely relying on China‟s concessional loans to avoid high debt challenge, Secondary, there is need to address lack transparency in China‟s development assistance to Uganda, and thirdly, both Uganda and China must give attention to environment.

The subject were 29 students. In collecting the data concerning the implementation of task-based language teaching, the researcher utilized three methods of data collection including observation, questionnaire and documentation. A case study approach utilized multiple methods either quantitative or qualitative (Beeton,2005; Hind, 2006, Yin, 1994)The result of this study showed that: The students‟ respond to the implementation of the task-based teaching in improving students‟ writing performance were very good respond based on the fourth aspects, they were introduction, pre-task, main-task, and post-task.

Title | : | Distorted Shadows: Power And Subjugated Women In Margret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale |

Abstract: The focus of this paper is in postmodern and dystopian fiction in relation to Margret Atwood‟s The Handmaid‟s Tale. It sets out to examine the representations and roles women in the novel. It is important to analyze patriarchal discourses that position women as the inferiors in the power relations. This study is especially significant because it is, to the best of my knowledge, the first to adopt Foucauldianfeminist reading of the novel. The research approach adopted in this paper includes feminist analysis ofpower, discourse and female subjects in The Handmaid‟s Tale. It draws on Foucault‟s concepts of discourse, power, surveillance, and the panopticon.However, the paper adopts a feminist perspective in applying these concepts. The paper concludes that subjecting women in the novel is a systematic process, which produces them as always the inferiors

Abstract: The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of Graphic Organizers Experiential Teaching Approach on students' achievement in Chemistry. The study involved quasi experimental research in which Solomon Four Non–Equivalent Control Group Research Design was used. The study sample comprised 216 Form Two chemistry students in four secondary schools in Nakuru North Sub-County. Purposive sampling was used for the four streams comprising 53, 51, 57 and 55 students in a class. In the experimental groups, GOETA was used while Traditional Teaching Methods (TTM) were used in control groups. Two groups were pre-tested prior to implementation of GOETA. After four weeks, all groups were post-tested using Chemistry Achievement Test (CAT). The instrument was validated and pilot tested before use for data collection to measure Student's achievement in Chemistry. A reliability coefficient of 0.846 for CAT was obtained and was accepted since it was above.........
