Title | : | Devaluating The Nandas -A Big Loss To The History Of India |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | SANJAY CHAUDHARI |
Abstract: Indian historians could be blamed for having hostile attitude towards the Nandas. Though Nandas established the first ever empire, covering almost area of present India, they were never recognized for the same. Almost Indian historians neglected their acheivements and have tried to reduce the span of their rule. The Nandas have been referred by distant people of ancient Iran and the classical writers of the Greece. Their strength has been narrated by the scholars who accompanied Alexander in India. Interesting to state that no evidences are available which could confirm the war, that took place between the last Nanda and Chandragupta. Even though the historians narrated the event stating it as a revolution by the people which ousted the last Nanda king...............

Title | : | Place of the Woman in Indian Society: A Brief Review |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. Tukaram S. Sawant |
Abstract: Indian society belongs to the man since time immemorial. The woman has been given a secondary and inferior position in her family and society. She has been facing injustice, suppression, oppression, subjugation and exploitation in a male-dominated Indian society. In spite of being educated, she has been looked down upon with contempt. She has been reduced to the status of a plaything and a machine, a lifeless object used to fulfil men‟s sexual desire. She has been treated as a commodity to be used, controlled and disposed of by the male members of society. She, a meek and obedient member of a male-dominated society, a puppet that follows five paces behind her man, an inanimate object suffering on account of prejudice, orthodox conventions and traditions, is expected to be silent, tolerant and patient, and yet gentle and gracious, caring and loving, kind and considerate right from the ancient days..........

Title | : | Influence of Estate Agents and Building Plan Approval Cost On Housing Affordability in Developing Cities |
Country | : | Malaysia |
Authors | : | Babatunde Femi Akinyode || Tareef Hayat Khan |
Abstract: This paper argues that housing affordability in Nigerian urban centres largely affected by theinvolvement of estate agent and buildingplan approval cost. It aims at examining the effects of these two factors on housing affordability in Nigerian urban centre with particular reference to Ibadan urban centre. The study utilised the qualitative approach through direct observation, photographs and personal interviews with the aid of unstructured questionnaire among 45 participants. Content analyses were used to evaluate the results of the method. The study revealed that, land valueis likely to increase in the future as long as estate agents continue to play an intermediary role between the buyers and suppliers. This will consequently affect housing affordability. The involvement of estate agent and high cost of building plan approval at the zonal planning authority play a significant role in housing affordability for majority of households and in the expansion of unauthorised housing settlements.
