Abstract: The increased prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) mandates the presence of simple but accurate tools to identify patients with this disorder for early detection and prevention of various serious consequences. This study aimed at comparing two sleep questionnaires as regards their predictive probabilities for OSA. Two sleep questionnaires ( Epworth Sleepiness Scale [ESS] and STOP-Bang) were administered to the patients and scoring of the results of the questionnaires was done. Overnight attended polysomnography (PSG) was done for all patients and was considered the gold standard for the diagnosis of OSA. The sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values of the two questionnaires was calculated. Of 35 screened patients; 30(85%) had OSA. The STOP.......

Abstract: 1.INTRODUCTION Pain by far is one of the most common and distressing effect of any disease. Epidurally administered narcotics are associated with much lesser incidence of respiratory depression than their intrathecal administration. Also, extradural administration allows the use of repeated doses via a catheter. 2. OBJECTIVE Compare the effects of addition of fentanyl or dexmedetomidine as an adjuvant with Bupivacaine 0.5% in Epidural block in terms of –1.Onset time of sensory and motor block 2.Level of sensory and motor block achieved 3.Duration of sensory and motor block. 3.Methods Present study was carried out on 75 patients scheduled for elective major surgery on lower limb, perineum, pelvis and lower abdomen. Abstract: Spinal anesthesia is commonly used for surgery because of ease of administration. Spinal anesthesia is a commonly used technique in anaesthetic practice for gynaecological, lower abdominal, pelvic, and lower limb surgeries. The Objective of this manuscript mainly focused the comparative evaluation of hemodynamic parameters following intrathecal bupivacaine with dexmedetomidine and bupivacaine alone in lower abdominal surgeries. Methods: A total of 100 patients of surgery were randomly assigned in two groups. Group A –Patients who had received 3.0 ml of 0.5% Bupivacain (Heavy)+0.5 ml normal saline and served as control group. Group B– Patients who were administered.........

Abstract: Assocation between hypothyroidism and lipid profile has been focussed in this study. This is an observational study. Lipid profile in 200 patients of hypothyroidism has been studied in this study. Chemiluminescence (CLIA) Method was used to estimate levels ofT3,T4,TSH quantitatively serum was estimated on the fully automated biochemistry analyser using the analyser specific Roche kit for total serum cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, and triglycerides. Friedwalds formula was used to calculate LDL cholesterol.Out of 200 patients 135 were of subclinical hypothyroidism and 65 belong to overt hypothyroidism. Females had higher prevalence consisting of 85% of cases.

Abstract: Intestinal parasitic infections are one of the biggest socioeconomic and medical problems. Epidemiological studies show that parasitic infections are among the most common infections and one of the biggest health problems of the society worldwide. Research carried out in different countries has shown that the socioeconomic status of the individuals is an important cause in the prevalence of intestinal parasites.OBJECTIVES:-To study the prevalence of worm infestation in 0-6yr children. To study the relation of worm infestation with malnutrition. Abstract: Appendectomy is one of the most common surgeries conducted in any hospital. Despite modern advances, the diagnosis of appendicitis remains essentially clinical, requiring a mixture of observation clinical acumen and surgical science and as such it remains an enigmatic challenge and a reminder of the art of surgical diagnosis. A delay in performing an appendectomy runs the risk of appendicular perforation and sepsis, which in turn increases morbidity, hospital stay and mortality. A prospective comparison study was done for RIPASA and Alvarado scoring system by applying them to 150 patients who presented with right iliac fossa pain during the study.....

Abstract: Background: Eclampsia is defined as the occurrence of one or more convulsions in association with raised blood pressure and proteinuria in a pregnant or puerperal woman, usually between 20 weeks of gestation to 6 weeks after confinement. In developing countries, eclampsia is one of the important reasons of adverse maternal and perinatal outcomes. Scientific evidences supported abnormal findings on neuro imaging have been noted in majority of the women with eclampsia with preponderance of parieto-occipital lobes involvement in the distribution of posterior cerebral arteries. The present study was conducted with an aim to evaluate the values of the CT Scan brain findings among eclampsia patients. A hospital based observational study which was cross-sectional in nature was carried.....

Abstract: Background: Intramedullary nailing is the method most commonly used for treatment of tibial diaphyseal fractures. Malrotation or torsion of tibia is one of the complications associated with use of intramedullary nailing. Malrotation, besides presenting problems cosmetically, especially >100 can cause knee and ankle arthrosis and other fuctional complications. Objective: To assess the malrotation following intramedullary nailing in adult patients with tibial diaphyseal fractures. Study design: The study was a prospective study over a period of one year (1st December 2013 to 30th November 2014) and retrospective study over a period of five years (1st December 2008 to 30th November 2013) conducted in.....

Abstract: The use of social media has become increasingly common nowadays, and most people relay on it for communication and data gathering. There is evidence that suggests the place social media has in health care education, but there is limited research on the impact social media has in aesthetic dentistry, especially in Saudi Arabia. Aim: The goal of this study is to investigate the influence of popular social media platforms on the perception of, and the demand for aesthetic dentistry in Saudi Arabia. Methods: Two surveys were developed targeting the population of Saudi Arabia and dental practitioners in Riyadh. A nationwide survey was....
